Our flexible online learning models provide students with structure, responsibility, and individualized support. Across all grade levels, students engage in purposeful learning experiences designed to strengthen their ability to think critically, examine complex ideas, and express themselves with clarity and confidence.
Learning Models
Every student learns differently. That’s why we offer two flexible models: Independent Learning for self-directed study; and Small Group Live Instruction with a dedicated teacher in a small group, virtual classroom. Both models provide teacher guidance, grading and feedback, ensuring students receive the right level of support. Parents and students can choose the approach that works best for them in each subject.
Independent Learning
Self-paced courses are taught using our online learning platform, guided by supportive teachers providing grading and feedback.
Small Group Live Instruction
For students who would benefit from learning in a small group setting, live instruction is available. Students meet with their course teacher one hour per week in a "virtual classroom" with up to five students per teacher.

Academic Counseling
Academic success is a journey we take together. From the moment a student joins our community, they are supported by a Counselor who provides personalized academic guidance. We closely monitor each student’s progress, pacing, and performance to ensure they stay on track.
To keep families informed and engaged, we send regular progress reports that offer clear, up-to-date insights into student achievement across all subjects. With proactive support and open communication, we help every student reach their full potential.
College and University Advising
Columbia School is committed to preparing students for life beyond high school—wherever their path may lead. Our experienced Counselors offer individualized support throughout the college planning process, including guidance on course selection, assistance with the Common App, NCAA eligibility for student athletes, and letters of recommendation.
