Curriculum
Recognized globally as a mark of academic rigor and ambition, AP® courses signal that students are prepared to succeed in challenging, university-level work. Our students take AP® courses online to prepare for English-speaking universities and global careers.
Elementary (K-5)
In grades K–5, students can explore more than 40 core and elective courses, including subjects like technology and Spanish. In elementary courses, they will:
- Strengthen their reading and writing skills
- Master fundamental math concepts
- Grow in critical thinking and problem-solving abilities
Middle School (6-8)
In grades 6–8, students can choose from over 30 core and elective courses, including Introduction to World Languages and Computer Science Discoveries. At this level, they will:
- Deepen their understanding of core subjects to build a strong foundation for high school
- Focus on skills critical to success in today's world
- Begin exploring their interests to help guide future academic and career choices
High School (9-12)
In grades 9–12, students can choose from more than 60 core courses and over 100 electives, including options in career and technical education, fine arts, world languages, and health/physical education. They have the flexibility to take Standard, Honors, or Advanced Placement (AP) courses and may also pursue dual enrollment to earn both high school and college credit. Students will:
- Create a personalized academic plan with their Columbia School counselor that prepares them for life after high school—whether that means university, community college, trade school, military service, or entering the workforce
- Demonstrate achievement by successfully completing coursework and meeting graduation requirements
- Explore their passions and interests through a wide range of elective offerings

Graduating with Columbia School
Full-time students at Columbia School are eligible to earn a high school diploma upon successfully meeting all graduation requirements. As part of the admissions process, we review each student’s academic records to determine appropriate course placement and to develop a personalized academic plan. This plan is tailored to each student’s academic track and post-secondary goals. Students transferring into Columbia School must complete at least 25% of their graduation credits through our program in order to receive a Columbia School diploma. In addition, students must meet minimum credit requirements.
